I love babies

This card is for a coworker who just had a baby boy.  We are having a shower for her.  After scouring Pinterest, I decided to piece together what I liked from many cards.  I made a peculiar size, so the envelope is also handmade.  The stamp is from Stampin' Up!

Happy World Cardmaking Day!

Hello to my dusty ol' blog.  Yes, school started again for this Teacher Mama.  Slowly and infrequently to the craft room I go.  So, here are a couple of cards I have made in the past few weeks.

First, a birthday card for a Lego-lovin' nine year old.

Papertrey Ink Stamp
Fiskars hole punch

Next a card for a buddy who had beautiful baby girl #3.  (Overcast day = not great photo)

Silhouette file for the bow (love!)
Fancy Pants patterned paper
Spellbinders oval scallop

Love using the SU! chalk marker to decorate the envelope.

Oh Baby, Baby, La, La, La, La, La, La, La

I thought I would post some baby cards I just made for a few work friends.

Note, the yellow and gray patterned paper (Teresa Collins) makes another appearance.  Intervention needed!

For this card, I thank Karen Kelly for her choice of patterned paper. I would not have chosen this for myself, but once I opened the packet, I LOVED the patterns.  Sometimes, you gotta see the paper in real life.  I also adore the new ribbon.  Woot!

Summer 2011: Day 1

This summer break took its sweet time getting here.  One of my goals is to get back into my craft groove, be it cardmaking, stamping, scrapbooking, whatever.  Why?  Consider Exhibit A: cobwebs from my lamp in my craft room.  Ridiculous.  I hope to evict Charlotte from my home, or at least start collecting some rent from her.

Today's installment was a card for Max's teacher who is having a baby in August.  A parent thought we should throw her a little shower.  Since I have not been crafting in quite some time, my stash of baby cards is at an all-time low.  I initially wanted to create a shape card just using the shape of a onesie.  I got pretty far, until I screwed up the sentiment stamp (grrr).  So, rather than trashing the whole card, I decided to pop half of it up on a yellow background.  She's not sure if she's having a girl or a boy, so I tried to stay neutral, although the scallops scream GIRL!  The binkie and the button were a last minute add-on.  I just felt it needed a little more punch.  She loved it.
On a somewhat related note, I have to give some serious props to my husband.  As much as I tease him about garage sales, he nailed this one.  He got a Sony Cyber-Shot 3.3 megapixel camera with 6x zoom and video (pretty rudimentary, but it'll do) for (wait for it...) $5!  I took the photos above using the close-up macro on this camera.  It's lightweight, easier to drag around than my Nikon D60, and takes better on the go pics than my old Nikon Cool Pix.  It works a LOT like the Sony Mavica (one of which I still have... with the mini CD...but it's QUITE bulky) which I used for some time.  It was like riding a bike. :)

Oh Baby

This card is for a friend who just had a baby boy. I used a generic white cardstock base. For my color panels, I used SU! Basic Gray and Perfect Plum. I stamped the sentiment from SU! Everything Baby in Adirondack Pitch Black. I also used this ink for the baby images, since I knew I wanted to color with my Copics. I used a Gelly Roll pen to accent the baby's onsie and the bubbles in the bath tub.

I think it's pretty cute. I used the "welcome, little one" sentiment from SU! Fun Phrases on the inside of the card.

Happy New Baby

A colleague is about seven months preggers, and a shower is in her near future. This card is from a group of us who pitched in for a gift. I said, of course, I would make a card.

I have to say, I am not a lover of pink, but I love this card. I borrowed the idea of paper piecing her dress from Karen, the published goddess.
Size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
Stamps: SU! Swell News, SU! Full of Life, SU! For a Friend
Ink: SU! Pretty in Pink, Copics
Ribbon: Sheer Creations
