DYL 2.0 Week 3, Layout 1, Unity and Space

I knew, no matter what the layout, I needed one of this week's pages to be about this damn vertigo.  I went with a hybrid page, which is funny since this would lend itself so well to totally digital.  What I learned was I need to either bring the tabs in closer or cut the photo block VERY carefully, as there is a little bit of white between the word tabs and the pics.  Because it was a balanced white, I went with it. This page is 8.5 x 11, matted on Stampin' Up! kraft patterned cardstock.  It's actually Christmas cardstock, but I felt it had just enough visual "hum" to work with the topic at hand.  The main pic was a selfie I took and then treated with a PS effect to give the idea of what it felt like to deal with constant vertigo. I mounted the white mat on a piece of Bazzill kraft cardstock and lifted it with some dimensional adhesives.

Mt two tabs say, "you're drunk," and "go home."  I used an Ali Edwards word sticker that said, "over it."  I liked how it pulled in the red, and, well, I am over dealing with this (three weeks so far).

Holy cow! A card!

I needed to make a card for the person I am sponsoring to receive Baptism and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.  This card will be opened during retreat next week, and it needed to contain some inspiration.

I used Bazzill Kraft as my base.  The first panel is SEI linen paper.  Then I used my Stampin' Up! banner dies and embossing folder with some Bazzill red and Neenah Solar White.  The sentiment is from PTI's A Cheerful Heart set.  I stamped with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink, which is quickly becoming my favorite.  I felt something was needed up top, so I stapled a bit of sheet ribbon and placed an Ali Edwards glittery white star, followed by a Studio Calico Kraft star to pull in the base.

It felt good to make a card again!

December Daily® Day 12: Oh, Christmas Tree!

Happiest of New Years to all!  How hard is it to believe it is 2017?  Especially when it will be my 30th high school reunion this year.  Oh my.  Tonight (NYE), I worked on December 12, which I dedicated mostly to our Christmas tree.

I used the back of the 12-up, 6 x 8 protector from Day 11 to showcase some of the ornaments we "found" when moving.  Some had not seen the tree in a couple of years, so there were some fun discoveries. The twinkle sentiment is from Ali's Digital December Daily Christmas Phrases files.  I picked a green from an area on one of the pictures.  

The journaling was on a 3 x 4 card layer. I am not sure how well you can tell, but the journaling is layered on a picture of our tree. Here's the digital image so it is a little easier to see.

I used a Recollections Clip and Snap-In Tab (first time).  I added a middle hole and stapled it down with the mini attacher.  On the flipside, I used more paper from last year's DD kit. 

I intentionally took pics of the tree reflecting lights off the window in the AM and in the PM.  I created a tab from Ali's AM/PM Story Kit digital elements.  I clipped these two layers together (I was mainly worried about the small card getting bent over time) with a tiny gold-painted clothespin.

There's gotta be a bokeh pic, right?  Here it is.  I had this matted page ready, so I printed a nearly 6 x 8 pic, layered with one of Ali's 12 Gifts of Christmas files (alas, no longer available) that I recolored and made slightly less opaque.

Other crafting pursuits

I have been busy with crafting, but unable to post some things because of the element of surprise.  I have been helping with a friend's baby shower.

First, the invitations:

I used some Bazzill shiny textured paper, my Silhouette, and some bling.  The colors and butterfly are representative of what is in the baby's nursery.  On the back is the wording for the invitation.

Then, some bunting:

I love making bunting, and the Silhouette makes it so easy.  I used the same textured cardstock as I used on the invitations.  Then I used light yellow lettering in Hello Dot font, some bling on the dots, and some yellow baker's twine.

Also, a sign (painting of canvas done by another crafty friend):

The wording was not our own, but the design was morphed to fit our needs.

Lastly, my own card to the mama-to-be:

Some SU! washi, some Martha Stewart butterflies (the punch is going to be returned,,,cute butterflies, ridiculous effort needed to punch), hand stitching with twine, and the baby's initials.  On, you guessed it, the textured cardstock from the invitations.

This all transpired over about three week's time.  There was much craftiness going on!

Happy Father's Day 2015

For our guy this year.  In addition to an EBay gift certificate (he loves buying dude clothes on EBay), I made him this card inspired by this pin.  I used some Stampin' Up! and Basic Grey paper, as well as SU! punches to make the bow ties.  The background is embossed with a Stampin' Up! embossing folder, inked, and popped up with Dimensionals.  The sentiment is part of the Hero Arts Celebrate Everyday set. I used Bazzill craft cardstock. Here's a closer look.

The inside is fairly simple.  I used an Ali Edwards Technique Tuesday stamp (Always Adore set)for the message that says it all.  Stamped on white for more pow!
